Academic Honors Fall 2005-Spring 2006 Rhodes Scholarship Finalist The Rhodes Scholarship Trust selects 32 individuals from the US each year to study at Oxford University in England in pursuit of a graduate degree of their choice. The Scholarship is one of the oldest and most distinguished fellowships offered to aspiring students today. Awarded the Big Ten Conference Medal of Honor In 1914 the Big Ten Conference established a Medal of Honor to be awarded annually at each member institution to a student in the graduating class. An additional award for the top female was instituted in 1982. Chosen by the Athletic Council, the winners of this most prestigious award are the male and female senior scholar-athletes who have attained the greatest proficiency in both academics and athletics. The honor includes a $5,000 grant from the awarding institution for post-graduate studies at the university of the winners’ choice.
ESPN the Magazine’s 1st Team Academic All-American Team The Academic All-America Team program honors 816 male and female student-athletes annually who have succeeded at the highest level on the playing field and in the classroom. Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America), a 2,000 member organization consisting of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada
President’s Salute to Undergraduate Academic Achievement Each year, the university’s top 200 students as nominated by their colleges, are invited to a recognition dinner called the President's Salute to Undergraduate Academic Achievement. College of Arts and Sciences Certificate for Excellence in Outstanding Scholarship Eligibility for this honor requires a minimum 3.70 grade-point average and candidacy for “with honors in the Arts and Sciences” or “with distinction,” or achievement in other superlative ways. This is the highest general honor the College of Arts and Sciences gives to its undergraduate students.

Top Speaking Appearances Fall 2008- Present Fencing Instruction- General Electric Top Sales Team- USOC Training Center- Chula Vista, CA Along with teammate Tim Morehouse, demonstrated for and instructed 23 General Electric employees on the basic principles of sabre fencing. Instruction included the basic elements of footwork, bladework, the rules of fencing and culminated with a team competition for the participants. Presented “Silver is the New Gold” speech to Google employees- New York, NY Along with teammate Tim Morehouse, gave an hour long presentation about the Olympic experience and our lessons learned. The presentation included multimedia from the Olympic Games, a fencing demonstration of the sport and a question/answer section
Selection to National Teams (Fencing) Explanation: “Saber” is one of the three weapon classes that make up modern fencing. In this day and age, fencers choose only one weapon in which to specialize, as it is extremely rare for a fencer to be competitive at the World level in more than one.
Fall 2007-Present *US Olympic Saber Team* The Olympic Team competed in the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China and consisted of only four members that were selected on the basis of their results during the season that preceded the Olympic Games.
Fall 2006-Fall 2007 US Senior National Saber Team “Senior” refers to the adult age category. This team of four members competes throughout the year in international team events as well as the World Championships at the end of the season.
Fall 2004-Fall 2005 US Senior National Saber Team Fall 2003-Fall 2004 *US Olympic Saber Team* The Olympic Team competed in the Summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece and consisted of only three members that were selected on the basis of their results during the season that preceded the Olympic Games.
Fall 2002-Fall 2003 US Senior National Saber Team US Junior National Saber Team “Junior” refers to the age category of 19 and under. This team of three members competes in the Junior World Championships at the end of each season.

This team of three members competes in the Cadet World Championships at the end of each season.
Fall 1998-Fall 1999 US Junior National Saber Team US Cadet National Saber Team Fall 1997-Fall 1998 US World Youth Games Saber Team “Youth” refers to the age category of 15 and under. This team of three members competed in a special competition in Moscow, Russia that has since been discontinued, but was originally designed to be the equivalent of the Olympic Games for Youth athletes.
